This photograph of the new breakwater lighthouse soon after construction is particularly interesting in that it shows how close the structure was built to the end of the breakwater and that at that time there was absolutely no land to the north of the breakwater at that time. The front range light on the outer end of the north pier can be seenin the foregground.
