Awards and Honors Seeing The Light

While we do not solicit any awards or honors, we are proud to report that the following sites and organization have seen fit to honor "Seeing The Light."


The Center for Great Lakes Culture at Michigan State University is dedicated to the development of virtual, intellectual, and physical connections among Great Lakes scholars, teachers, students, institutions, writers, journalists, and the interested public. In March 2003, the Center selected Seeing The Light to receive its 3rd annual award for the website which best represents these goals.

Pasty Central has become a primary starting point for many Upper Michigan visitors. As a bi-weekly service to their guests, they highlight another interesting U.P. destination to browse. "The Golden Pasty Award" is bestowed on each of these sites to recognize technical excellence and quality content relating to the Great Lakes region. Seeing The Light received notification that we had received the Golden Pasty award on July 28, 2001.
Click to visit Harbor Lights "Brite Sites." As well as offering a complete line of wonderfully detailed  lighthouse collectible sculptures, The Harbour Lights website operates what is undoubtedly the most comprehensive listing of Internet lighthouse links. They have recently also decided to recognize and feature some of the best lighthouse web sites through their "Bright Site" award. In July 2001 Seeing the Light was honored to be their first featured "Bright Site."
The Great Lakes Information Network (GLIN) is a partnership that provides one place online for people to find information relating to the binational Great Lakes-St. Lawrence region of North America. GLIN offers a wealth of data and information about the region¡¯s environment, economy, tourism, education and more. Every month, GLIN chooses a single site as its' "Site Of The Month." Seeing The Light is proud to have been selected to receive this honor for the month of January, 2002.

Lighthousing.net is a wonderful Internet bulletin board where people share information on lighthouses around the world. Seeing The Light is proud to have been recognized as the Lighthousing.net's "Lighthouse Site of the Month" for January 2005.
